This Thanksgiving educational puzzle set, with a focus on compound words , is adorable ! It is brand new and in excellent condition ! I laminated the pieces for durability! This item comes from a smoke free home . I received this set at an after school, Title I workshop for teachers when I was teaching 1st grade. It consists of a header that measures 9.5" x 7.25", a direction card that measures 8" x 4.625", and 27 two-part pumpkin puzzles that measure 3.5" x 3.25" when constructed . The colorful header has a border of orange with white polka dots . "Compound Word Practice" is printed in bold green letters, and "Thanksgiving" is printed in a pattern of brown and orange . The header is illustrated with a girl Pilgrim and Indian standing amongst some corn stalks . On the ground, in front of them, is a pumpkin. The direction card also has an orange border, with white polka dot, but the dots are very subtle . It is headed with a title in bold black print . Below that are directions that are also in bold black text. The puzzle pieces feature half of an orange pumpkin with a green stem . Both the left and right-side pieces have words in bold black letters. To use this set, the header and direction card are placed in the middle of the play area. The left-side puzzle pieces are set up on the left side of the header, and the right-side puzzle pieces are set up on the right side of the header . Children then pick up a piece from the left side, read the word on it, find the piece on the right side that matches it, and then read the compound word that has been made. This set would make a wonderful addition to a 1st grade classroom to be used, during Literacy Centers, around Thanksgiving ! It would also be great to have in a household with young children ! I am hoping to find it a good home.
